Our Collaborative Approach

Keys to Success (KTS), a program of program of Arizona Friends of Foster Children Foundation (AFFCF), is designed to help youth aging out of the Arizona foster care system receive the career, education, and employment development services they need to achieve personal and financial stability.

Identify youth.
Administer an individual map assessment.
Provide job readiness training and coaching.
Assist with job application, interview skills.
Provide ongoing support and problem solving after the youth is employed.

Role of Employer Partners

Trinity Opportunity Alliance (TOA), a program of North Scottsdale United Methodist Church, identifies potential employers, works with youth serving organizations to match eligible youth with jobs, and supports employers with training and problem solving.

Role of TOA

Provide training for employer on the unique characteristics of foster youth, both assets and challenges.
Work with partner youth serving organizations to identify potential candidates for positions.
Establish the TOA Advisory Panel that will identify issues faced by employers and develop strategies that other employers and faith communities can utilize to scale the program. 

TOA Employer Partners are small to large employers who are committed to hiring youth who have been in the system and train their managers and supervisors to provide ongoing mentoring.  

  • Identify one or more positions with established job descriptions.
  • Interview and hire employee.
  • Create an environment where youth retention, development and growth are given special consideration.
  • Provide mentoring and coaching by an in-house employee.
  • Share feedback to the TOA Program Manager about issues faced while employing the youth.
  • Share positive outcomes that have resulted from employing the youth.
  • Serve on the TOA Advisory Panel.
